Laverne Cox to be Honored for her LGBTQ Advocate Work at the Webby Awards
Laverne Cox will be recognized as the advocate of this year's Webby Awards. 2022 Webby Awards.
The actor and the producer will be honored in the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences (IADAS) for her LGBTQ advocacy work.
"Laverne Cox is aware of the importance of demonstrating with a positive example," Webby Awards president Claire Graves told Variety exclusively on Tuesday morning.
"She is an unwavering, consistent and powerful advocate for Black trans persons, and we're so happy to have Cox as 2022's Webby Advocate of the Year, chosen from a committee headed by NAACP as well IADAS."
Comic Roy Wood Jr. will host the ceremony; the Webby Awards will place on the 16th of May on Cipriani Wall Street in New York City. Verizon will host it.
Laverne Cox is an American actress and LGBT advocate.
She rose to prominence with her role as Sophia Burset on the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, becoming the first transgender person to be nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in an acting category,
