Erling Haaland signs for Manchester City

Norway striker will officially conclude his transfer to City from Borussia Dortmund City in the first week of July after being through a medical in Brussels on Monday.

The release clause of Haaland was frequently cited in the past as EUR75 million (PS64m); however, the number is only EUR60m (PS51 million).

The 21-year-old is one of the City's top earners, earning around PS400,000 per week.

"Manchester City are pleased to confirm that we signed a principled agreement with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the club from the 1st of July in 2022.

The transfer is still subject to the club concluding agreements with the player."

Guardiola had earlier cautioned against the idea that Haaland will solve all City’s goalscoring needs.

“The new players always help to try to be a stronger team but a good defender will not solve our defensive problems, one striker will not solve scoring problems that maybe we have,” the manager said.

“Not me, the club has to have a vision for the future. I am always completely aware and supportive 100%.”
