Shirley Bassey and Emilia Jones To Perform at BAFTA

Celebrity singer Shirley Bassey will open the BAFTA film awards with the James Bond tribute.

Bassey has long been associated with 007, holding the record for most Bond songs by the song “Goldfinger” in 1964, “Diamonds Are Forever” in 1971, and “Moonraker” in 1979.

The British Academy noted that in the 60 years since Dr. No premiered in 1962, the James Bond franchise had earned 32 BAFTA nominations and four wins to date.

The singer will perform “an iconic Bond theme” although which one will only be revealed on the night.

This year’s BAFTA Awards will celebrate a number of iconic British film franchises, including Bond and Harry Potter.

Also performing on the night will be Emilia Jones, star of awards darling CODA. Jones — who has a BAFTA nomination for best actress in a leading role — will perform a rendition of Joni Mitchell’s balled “Both Sides Now,” taken from the film.

“CODA” lead Emilia Jones is also set to perform during the ceremony with a rendition of “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell.

The BAFTA Awards will take place in London on March 13.

The EE British Academy Film Awards or BAFTA Film Awards are presented in an annual award show hosted by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) to honor the best British and international contributions to film.

The ceremonies were initially held at the flagship Odeon cinema in Leicester Square in London, before being held at the Royal Opera House from 2008 to 2016.

Since 2017, the ceremony has been held at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The statue awarded to recipients depicts a theatrical mask.

The first BAFTA Awards ceremony was held in 1949, and the ceremony was the first broadcast on the BBC in 1956 with Vivien Leigh as the host.

The ceremony was initially held in April or May; since 2001, it typically takes place in February.
