Shah Rukh Khan agreed to do the film without looking at the script first.

Amitabh Bachchan was out of work and with no makers approaching him, he approached Yash Chopra for some work, and was offered a role in the movie.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan playing Megha, was not shown with her face in the trailer prior to the movie release

Karisma Kapoor and Kajol were offered the roles of Ishika and Sanjana, but both of them rejected the offer.

Sridevi’ was supposed to be in the film as Amitabh Bachchan’s love interest but the role was scrapped.

The school campus ‘Gurukul’ set was erected in London, England.

Originally Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was meant to be a guest appearance. However, during the making of the film, she had become so popular that the filmmakers extended her role.

Director Karan Johar designed clothes for Amitabh Bachchan.

Sameera Reddy was approached for the film but she declined as she was not ready for films. Preeti Jhangiani was then signed for the role.
